St Ives is an exceptional prep school for children aged 2–11, set in 8 acres of beautiful parkland just moments from Haslemere High Street.

Welcome from the Head

A very warm welcome to St Ives! Thank you for taking the time to find out more about our school.

I have been teaching at St Ives since 2011 and have been Head Teacher since 2014. During that time, I have remained committed to ensuring that the education we provide offers the very best combination of academic achievement, pastoral care, sporting opportunity and creative enrichment, enabling every child to thrive and fulfil their potential.

The amazing thing about St Ives is its uniquely warm and encouraging atmosphere, which has been inspiring pupils since we first opened our doors in 1911. Seeing children happy to try something new, take risks, embrace challenges and give their all with confidence is how we measure our success.

Our ethos

At St Ives School we strive every day to:

  • Provide a secure and happy environment in which our children are encouraged to work and play with enthusiasm and commitment
  • Maintain a tradition of academic excellence whilst offering the fullest possible range of experiences through a broad and balanced curriculum
  • Promote a spiritual and moral awareness in our pupils, based on strong family-orientated principles
  • Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere in which everyone’s individual abilities and potential are fully appreciated and nurtured
  • Promote at all times the qualities of integrity, kindness, charity and good manners.

Our teachers

At St Ives, our exceptional teachers are at the heart of everything we do. Passionate, experienced and dedicated, they inspire children to develop a love of learning, encouraging curiosity, confidence and a willingness to embrace new challenges.

Our small class sizes mean every child is truly known as an individual. Teachers build strong relationships with their pupils, allowing them to tailor learning, celebrate achievements and provide support where needed. This personalised approach ensures every child is challenged, nurtured and empowered to reach their full potential.

As a specialist-led school, pupils benefit from expert teaching across a wide range of subjects, including Sport, Music, Drama, Art, French and Forest School. Beyond the classroom, teachers encourage children to explore their interests, discover new talents and take advantage of the rich opportunities available through our extensive co-curricular programme.

The warm, family atmosphere at St Ives means no child is ever overlooked. Whether performing in a school production, representing the school in sport, taking part in a club or leading a community project, every pupil is encouraged to participate, contribute and shine.

Our teachers are committed not only to academic success, but also to developing kind, resilient and well-rounded young people who leave St Ives confident and fully prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
