Years 3 to 6

With small class sizes and specialist teaching across a broad range of subjects, every child is encouraged to achieve their personal best. Our curriculum is ambitious, engaging and designed to challenge pupils academically while fostering creativity, critical thinking and curiosity. From Mathematics and English to Science, Languages, Music, Drama, Art and Sport, children benefit from expert teaching that helps them develop both knowledge and confidence.

Beyond the classroom, pupils enjoy an exceptional range of enrichment opportunities that broaden horizons and develop character. Whether performing on stage, competing in sport, taking part in educational visits, leading community projects or exploring the natural world through Forest School, children are encouraged to discover their passions and embrace new experiences.

Pastoral care remains at the heart of school life. We believe happy children make the best learners, and our nurturing environment ensures every pupil feels known, valued and supported. Strong relationships between staff, pupils and families create a sense of belonging that enables children to flourish both academically and personally.

Leadership opportunities are woven throughout the Prep School experience, helping pupils develop responsibility, empathy and self-belief. As they progress through the school, children are encouraged to become role models for younger pupils and active contributors to the wider school community.

Our recent ISI inspection recognised the strength of our curriculum and enrichment programme, awarding St Ives a Significant Strength for curriculum development and enrichment. Combined with our outstanding pastoral care and excellent academic outcomes, this ensures pupils leave Year 6 as confident, well-rounded young people who are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their education.

St Ives has an excellent track record of preparing pupils for a wide range of leading senior schools, with 100% of pupils securing places at their first-choice destination. Through our partnership with Guildford High School, eligible pupils who meet the required criteria can benefit from a direct transition pathway, providing an exciting route to one of the country's leading independent schools. Whatever their chosen destination, our pupils leave St Ives equipped with the confidence, skills and enthusiasm to thrive in the next chapter of their educational journey.
